Welcome to Conveyancing Essentials Online

This course has been created out of a growing need for experienced support staff in the ACT in the area of general conveyancing. The course focuses on the “hands-on” aspects of conveyancing, from opening a client file through to congratulating your client on the success of their sale or purchase.

Pre-Requisites

No experience is required and learning is easy, however, you will need basic computer skills, use of the internet and working in a property legal environment.

Applicants will learn to:

  • Identify the use of the language we use in a conveyance
  • Create and organise a client file
  • Draft two forms of contract – House and a Class A unit
  • Negotiate and finalise an exchange of a Contract for Sale – Sale and Purchase
  • Prepare post-exchange and pre-settlement documents and figures
  • Finalise a sale and purchase settlement
  • Prepare all forms of correspondence, order searches and enquiries

Structure of course

This is a structured course with a set start and end date over 10 weeks. Participants can work at their own pace and study at convenient times, but it is suggested that you do this at work where you are able to ask questions of your supervisor. On average, applicants will spend two to three hours a week on the course.

There are various activities which are completed each week, and each week will be marked out of 10%, leaving a total out of 100% on completion. The home page provides you with the outline of the course commencing with Week 1, Weeks 2 – 5 for a Sale, Weeks 6 – 9 for a Purchase and the final Week 10 where you conduct the sale and purchase settlements.

The next course will commence on Sunday, 27 January 2019.
